Exoplanet phases seen in visible light

In this artist depiction, CoRoT-1b can be seen in several phases as it orbits its sun. Because the planet is tidally locked, it has a permanent dayside and nightside. For the first time, astronomers have observed the phases of an extrasolar planet in visible light, as the world orbits around its star.

First panda cub born at zoo in Thailand

A newborn baby panda sits in the hands of a veterinarian as it is cared for at Chiang Mai zoo in Chiang Mai province, northern Thailand Wednesday. A Thai zoo has announced the birth of a healthy panda cub after years of failed attempts that included using mating videos to entice the parents to have sex.

New Mars rover gets name: Curiosity

Microsoft adds touch screen, Web to Zune
